NCAA Division I Longwood used a 38-8 run in the first half to pull away from Mary Baldwin Sunday for a 97-40 men's basketball victory over the Fighting Squirrels.
Longwood put 14 players in the scoring column, spreading the wealth as eight players had at least nine points. Michael Christmas topped the hosts with 15 points while Trey Hicks had 12 points. Elijah Tucker, one of four players with nine points, also had a game-high nine rebounds as Longwood held a 63-27 advantage on the glass.
Junior
Zach Sloan again led the Fighting Squirrels (4-4) with 13 points while graduate student Quintin Hart added 12 points. Sloan also led MBU with four assists and two steals.
The Fighting Squirrels now take time off for final exams and a holiday break. MBU returns to action Monday, Dec. 30 with a 2 p.m. non-conference battle at the MBU PAC against Randolph College.
