After scoring just 18 points in the first half, the Mary Baldwin men's basketball team put together a strong team second half, rallying from an eight-point deficit to gain a 66-54 USA South victory at William Peace Friday.

The Fighting Squirrels hit just 6-of-26 field goal attempts in the first half but put together a strong second half with a 15-for-27 shooting performance. The MBU defense also picked up its game in the final 20 minutes, holding the host Pacers to a 6-for-22 performance after holding a 26-18 lead at the break.
Interestingly, both teams finished the game 20-for-24 at the free throw line and each team had four three-point goals. MBU won the game by hitting six more field goals in the game.
Timothy Pettiford led both teams with 18 points for WPU while Beau Bryant had 15 scores.
The first-place Fighting Squirrels play their final USA South regular-season road game Saturday (2/10) at Pfeiffer University, beginning at 4 p.m.
