Hadley May crushed a pair of homers in the first two innings of the second game, including a first-inning grand slam, to lift the Mary Baldwin softball team to an 8-3 victory over Ferrum and a doubleheader split with the Panthers Saturday at the MBU softball field.
In the first game, junior

McKenzie Tillman also had two hits and an RBI in her first career home game.Â
Ferrum (1-5) bounced back with a run in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh to gain its first win of the season.
In the nightcap, the first three MBU batters in the first inning reached safely, and all scored on May's homer to right field for a 4-0 lead. In the second, May launched her second homer of the game to left field for a 6-0 lead. Crum added two more hits and two runs scored in the second game for MBU while Tillman chipped in two safeties.
Pitcher
Molly Thompson surrendered just four hits to Ferrum, but three were solo home runs over the first five innings. Tillman came on in relief to shut down the visitors and secure MBU's first win of the young season. Â
