Edward Headley and Wren Killian scored second-half goals in Mary Baldwin's 6-3 USA South Men's Soccer loss to visiting Greensboro at SMA Worth Field Wednesday.
The Pride (6-3-3, 1-1-0 USA South) pulled out to a 3-0 lead at halftime and increased it to 4-0 early in the second half before MBU's offense got a spark from Headley's first goal of the season, off an assist from
Cohen Croslin, in the 52nd minute. It was Headley's 10th career goal.
Greensboro padded its lead with a pair of schools before Killian outworked the Pride defense and willed the ball into the back of the net for his first career goal in the 86th minute. Two minutes later, a crossing pass in the goalmouth was deflected into the goal by a Greensboro defender for MBU's third goal.
The Fighting Squirrels were outshot 14-6 for the game (9-5 on goal). Junior
Preston Bentley was credited with three saves in the contest.
MBU (2-9-1, 0-3-0 USA South) returns to action Saturday with a conference match at North Carolina Wesleyan, beginning at 2 p.m.
