Deanna Chapman and
Gabrielle Wyatt had the strongest performances in singles matches for Mary Baldwin women's tennis Tuesday, but the Fighting Squirrels fell at Salem 7-0 in the first USA South Conference match of the season.
Chapman won three games at #3 singles while Wyatt won four games, including three in the first set, at #4 singles. Ultimately, MBU dropped all six singles matches in straight sets. Salem also posted three decisive victories to earn the doubles point.
MBU returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Fighting Squirrels host USA South rival North Carolina Wesleyan in both men's and women's tennis, starting at 1 p.m.
