The Mary Baldwin offense exploded for 25 runs Saturday in two games on the team's Myrtle Beach Spring Break Trip as the Fighting Squirrels improved to 3-1 for the season with a 15-0 win over Vermont State-Lyndon, followed by a 10-1 decision over Vermont State-Johnson,both in five innings.
In the opener, Mackenzie Tillman led the 10 hit, seven walk attack with three base hits while
Allison Crum and
Hadley May each chipped in two hits and three RBI. The Fighting Squirrels put the game away with five runs in the fourth inning and six more in the fifth. In the circle, Emily McCreary improved to 2-0 by holding VS-Lyndon to just one hit.
In the nightcap, MBU scored in every inning to gradually put the game away, finishing the game with three runs in the fifth frame. Tillman and
Santrice Rush led the attack, each with three hits. Tillman also had three runs scored and three RBI while Rush had a run and knocked in another score.Â
Emily Hall also chipped in two hits, a run and an RBI while
Leanna Rankin drew three bases-loaded walks.
MBU returns to action Sunday with contests against Wilkes (9 a.m.) and St. Elizabeth (11 a.m.).
