Mary Baldwin's softball team managed just three runs on 14 hits in 12 innings on the way to losing both ends of a USA South doubleheader against first-place Pfeiffer Saturday in Staunton. Pfeiffer won the first game 12-3 in five innings, then held MBU scoreless in a 3-0 win over the Fighting Squirrels in the nightcap.
The visiting Falcons pounded out 15 hits and scored in each of the first four innings of the first game, including a six-run outburst in the third inning that put the game out of reach.

McKenzie Tillman each had two hits in the first game, including Tillman's third homer of the season.
In the nightcap, Pfeiffer combined seven hits and three MBU errors to score single runs in the first, second and fourth innings.
Allison Crum had two of the Fighting Squirrels' six hits.
MBU (17-13, 3-7 USA South) returns to action Saturday (4/12) with a conference twinbill at Meredith College, starting at 1 p.m.
