On Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, Mary Baldwin women's cross country senior Nicky Black and women's soccer sophomore Joelle Hare were recognized with USA South weekly awards.
Black was named the USA South Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for her performance at the James Madison University Invitational on Sept. 25. Black finished 14th among 25 runners with a time of 22:39.20. She was the second Division III runner to finish the meet.
This is Black's first conference weekly award of the year.
Hare was recognized for her three-goal performance against Salem College on Saturday, Oct. 3, in a 7-0 victory for the Fighting Squirrels.
Hare scored two of her three goals in the first half before completing her hat trick in the 65th minute. The game marked her first collegiate hat trick and surpassed her previous career high of two goals in a single game. With six games remaining, Hare has already eclipsed her total of six goals from the 2025 season.
"It feels really good. It shows that my hard work has paid off," Hare said when asked what her first weekly award means to her. "Getting a goal isn't easy to begin with, so getting three was definitely amazing."
This marks Hare's first career conference weekly award.
