The Mary Baldwin softball team split a doubleheader with Eastern Mennonite University on Tuesday, winning the first game 13-6 before falling 9-1 in the second.
Game 1
The Fighting Squirrels jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when freshman
Cassidy Branch hit a two-run home run to left-center field, scoring juniorÂ

Mary Baldwin extended its lead in the second inning, scoring seven unanswered runs. With the bases loaded, sophomoreÂ
Hannah Bolt scored from third on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, freshman
Dana Micone drove in two runs with a double down the right-field line as the Fighting Squirrels took a 9-0 lead.
Mary Baldwin added three more runs in the fourth inning to go ahead 12-1. The Royals responded with four runs in the fifth, but the comeback attempt fell short.
Game 2
In the second game, Eastern Mennonite found its rhythm at the plate, scoring seven runs through the first four innings, including a home run by Meaghan Dean in the fourth.
Senior
Jenna Dimiceli broke the scoring drought for Mary Baldwin in the fifth inning with a home run to left-center field. Dimiceli finished 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI.
The Royals added two more runs in the sixth inning to secure the 9-1 win.
