Mary Baldwin baseball fell short of a weekend sweep of Pfeiffer, losing 14-6 Saturday afternoon on Senior Night.

The Falcons got out to a fast start, scoring five runs in the second inning, highlighted by an Austin Wood home run to left-center field.

Going into the fifth inning, Mary Baldwin trailed 6-0 before a sacrifice by freshman Noel Cano-Rocha scored a runner, putting the Fighting Squirrels on the board.

Mary Baldwin's bats caught fire in the inning, loading the bases. Senior Jacob Barber stepped up to the plate and, with a full count, crushed a grand slam to trim the lead to one.
The early deficit proved too much to overcome, as MBU's bats fell flat, scoring just one run after the fifth inning.

A two-run home run by Ben Mecimore in the seventh inning helped Pfeiffer extend its lead to 11-6 going into the eighth.

Pfeiffer's pitchers allowed nine hits and recorded six strikeouts on the day.

For Mary Baldwin, Barber led the way at the plate, recording two hits, four RBIs and a home run.
