The Fighting Squirrels dropped the first game of a three-game weekend series against William Peace, 8-7.

The Pacers took an early 3-0 lead, highlighted by a Gavin Turner two-run home run in the third inning.

The Fighting Squirrels trimmed the lead in the second inning as senior Jacob Barber singled to center field, driving in two runs.

With runners on the corners, junior Caden Smith knocked in a single to cut the lead to one. Barber recorded his third RBI of the game with another single to center field, tying the contest.

Senior Will Earnesty drove in a run after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and freshman Patrick Sido singled to right field to give Mary Baldwin a 7-4 lead in the top of the sixth inning.

The Pacers' offense responded, scoring four runs over the final three innings. Aaron Kimbel drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to secure the victory.
