Mary Baldwin men's soccer defeated Wilson College 3-1 Wednesday evening behind two goals from sophomore
Jayden Davis and a strong defensive effort.
The Fighting Squirrels took control early, scoring twice in the first 33 minutes before Wilson answered late in the first half.
Senior
Isaiah Morris opened the scoring in the 29th minute when freshman
Saeed Ramos crossed the ball past the defenders.
Four minutes later, sophomore
Jayden Davis scored the first of his two goals to give Mary Baldwin a 2-0 lead.
The Phoenix responded in the 38th minute when Jordan DeVincent cut the deficit to one.
Freshman goalkeeper
Zachary Caudill stood strong in goal, recording four saves in the first half.
Davis sealed the victory in the 84th minute. Senior
David Romano delivered a corner kick into the penalty area, and Davis finished the chance to give the Fighting Squirrels a 3-1 lead.
Mary Baldwin will hit the road Saturday, Oct. 3, to take on USA South opponent Methodist University.
