Mary Baldwin volleyball traveled to N.C. Wesleyan on Friday to compete in the N.C. Wesleyan Volleyball Tournament, falling to Mount Aloysius 3-0 and Randolph College 3-0.
In the first match, Mary Baldwin recorded 17 kills. Senior
Sabrina Birts led the Fighting Squirrels with six kills, while senior libero
Alexa Ammerman covered the court defensively with 12 digs.
Mount Aloysius' offense proved to be too much, as three Mounties recorded six or more kills. The Mounties won 25-15, 25-10 and 25-14 to close out the first match of the day.
In the second matchup, Mary Baldwin took on the Randolph Wildcats, falling 25-11, 25-16 and 25-13.
The Fighting Squirrels struggled against Randolph's servers, as the Wildcats recorded six aces compared with just one for Mary Baldwin.
Ammerman had another strong defensive performance, recording 14 digs against Randolph.
Makayla Waiters led Randolph with nine kills and added five blocks defensively.
The Fighting Squirrels will return to action Saturday, Sept. 5, as they compete in the second day of the N.C. Wesleyan Volleyball Tournament.
