Mary Baldwin University Director of Athletics Tom Byrnes proudly announced the addition of DeEarnest McLemore as the new head coach of the Fighting Squirrels women's basketball team.
McLemore, who joins a program that has qualified for the USA South Athletic Conference playoffs in four of the past five seasons, has more than a decade of coaching experience, including the last two seasons as the Head Women's Coach at Riverside High School in Durham, N.C.
A graduate of Wagner College in Staten Island, New York, McLemore was a member of Wagner's Northeast Conference Championship team during the 2002-03 season which made the NCAA Tournament. In 2005 he was named the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the year. He was a member of the USA Select Basketball Tour Team, the Triad ABA in Winston-Salem, N.C., and played in the European Basketball Federation. Â
He began his coaching career at Fayetteville (N.C.) State University for three years and worked as an assistant coach for the Chapel Hill High School boys team, Charles E. Jordan High School boys team and the Head Coach for his alma mater Cary High School girls team. He also coaches the CP3 Flames Nike Girls EYBL Team in Raleigh, NC.
Coach McLemore is married to his wife Whitney and have two children, daughter Kaelyn and son Dallas.Â
