The Mary Baldwin College tennis team traveled to North Carolina
this weekend to play their first conference matches of the
season.
On Saturday, Greensboro College (1-2 overall, 1-0 USA South)
defeated Mary Baldwin (0-3, 0-1 USA South) 8-1.
The Pride jumped out to an early lead taking two of the three
doubles matches. #1 doubles team Katy Kelly and McKayla
Burnett lost to Paige Brown and Elizabeth Adair of Greensboro 8-3
while #2 Najah Jenea-Edgar and Lotasha Gough lost to Greensboro's
Meredith Kelly and Margaret Dubey 8-1. Bria Shelton and Miangel
Hite won their first match of the season at the #3 spot defeating
Anne-Marie Green and Alice Traub 8-6.
In singles play, Greensboro swept all six spots to take the 8-1
win.
On Sunday, the Fighting Squirrels faced Methodist University,
who was picked #1 in the preseason poll. The Monarchs easily
defeated Mary Baldwin 9-0.
Mary Baldwin drops to 0-4 overall this season and 0-2 in the USA
South. They play again on Tuesday when they host Southern
Virginia in a non-conference matchup.
