STAUNTON, VA - The Mary Baldwin College tennis team improved
their record to 3-9 (3-7 USAS) this afternoon when they defeated
N.C. Wesleyan College 5-4.
N.C. Wesleyan forfeited #3 doubles but won both #1 and #2
doubles matches to hold a 2-1 advantage going into singles play.
The Bishops were also forced to forfeit #5 and #6 singles
giving Mary Baldwin the 3-2 edge. The visitors then won #1
and #4 singles while Mary Baldwin took #3 leaving senior Katie
Kelly to decide the match on Senior Day at the #2 spot.
Kelly took the first set 6-4 then gave Mary Baldwin the win with
a 6-3 second set victory.
The tennis team will be on the road this weekend then wrap up
the season next week at Shenandoah University in a non-conference
matchup.
