ROANOKE, VA – The Mary Baldwin College Tennis team traveled to Roanoke, Virginia to match up with Hollins University. The Fighting Squirrels were not able to secure a victory and lost 1-8.
Hollins took an early lead following the doubles competition with Mary Baldwin's number one
(Cincinnati/Austin), number two (Koomson/Hite), and number three (Ishii/Ajavon) doubles
being defeated 1-8, 2-8, and 5-8 respectively.
Singles provided Mary Baldwin College with its' only point with Sakurako Ishii (#6 Singles)
defeating Htet Myat San it a tough 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 match.
Head Coach, Paul Yee, felt that his young team played hard and competed well and he looks to
see more of the same spirit in the future.
The Fighting Squirrels will travel this weekend to LaGrange College (Saturday 3/14) and
Huntingdon College (Sunday 3/15) to compete in two USA South Conference matches.
