FERRUM, VA - The Mary Baldwin College tennis team improved their record this afternoon with a 7-2 USA South Conference win over Ferrum College.

Mary Baldwin College jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play.  The Fighting Squirrels #2 team of Sarena Clifton and Brenda Ajavon won 8-4 while the #3 team of Miangel Hite and Jeni-Lee MacLaughlin blanked Ferrum 8-0.

Mary Baldwin continued to dominate the match in singles play.  At the #2 spot, Caroline Dilorenzo edged her opponent in the first set 7-5 then rolled in the second set 6-0.  Sarena Clifton battled at the #3 spot winning 6-2 and 7-5.  #4 Brenda Ajavon, #5 Miangel Hite, and #6 Jochebed Koomson easily won their matches giving up just 7 games in the final three spots.
