FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - No. 17 ranked Mary Washington scored two goals in a span of 13 minutes early in the second half Saturday to defeat Mary Baldwin 2-0 on Day 1 of the UMW Soccer Classic.

The MAry Baldwin defense held strong for the first 50 minutes of action, but then Mary Washington's Evan Fidler scored on a crossing pass to put the Eagles on top 1-0 in the 51st minute. The Eagles added their second goal 13 minutes later to take a 2-0 advantage.

MBU keeper Obdulio Argueta turned on a solid peformance for the Fighting Squirrels, finishing the contest with 10 saves.

Rhajee Scarlett and Pedro De Oliveira each put a shot on goal for MBU.

Another Top 25 opponent is next on the slate for MBU as the Squirrels will meet No. 17 Johns Hopkins on Sunday to finish play at the UMW Soccer Classic.
