FREDERICK, Md. - The Mary Baldwin women's tennis team won four of the six singles matches to clinch a 6-3 victory Saturday over Hood College.

Mary Baldwin led 2-1 afer doubles action with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.

At No. 2 doubles, MBU's Alexis Seymore and Samantha Childs rolled to an 8-1 victory. Gretchen Lutz and Kelly Bantel won at No. 3 doubles by the same 8-1 margin.

Mary Baldwin won the top three matches on the singles ladder along with the No. 6 slot to close out the match.

At No. 1 singles, Lutz downed Hood's Katie Cautero 7-6, 6-3. MBU's Seymore stooped Mary Emma Guldi 6-4, 6-3. at No. 2 singles and teammate Hannah Eastridge won at No. 3, defeating Lauren Sheffler 6-3, 6-3. Mary Baldwin's final point was socred by Liz Wine with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles. 

Mary Baldwin's two losses in singles play were tightly contested matches in split sets.

At No. 4 singles, Mary Baldwin's LAuren Hodgkins was edged out by Hood's Cori mark 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4). Childs fell at No. 5 singles to Hood's Kim Castellano 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (

11-9).
