Women's Tennis Team Splits Saturday Matches

The Mary Baldwin women's tennis lost a non-conference match Saturday to Emory & Henry, 9-0 but bounced back to defeat conference foe William Peace 6-3 in the MBU Courts.

Hannah Eastridge picked up the lone point for MBU in the match with E&H, winning the No. 4 singles match 6-1, 7-5. Katlyn Massie played a strong match at No. 1 singles, losing to Sabina Chemega in split sets 2-6, 7-5, 0-1 (3-10).

Against William Peace, Lauren Hodgkins and Gretchen Lutz took the point at No. 2 doubles. The MBU duo were leading their match 7-2 when their opponents were forced to retire due to injury. Samantha Childs won a point at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
