Megan Andrews totaled six kills, a .429 hitting percentage, two solo blocks and seven block assists in a 3-2 non-conference volleyball setback at The College of Notre Dame (Md.) Thursday.
The Fighting Squirrels (2-17) jumped on top early, winning the first set 25-10, but then lost the next two by scores of 25-15 and 25-18. Andrews led MBU in the fourth set to a 25-17 victory, forcing a tie-breaking fifth set that was tied at eight before the host Gators (8-8) pulled away for a 15-9 win.
Sophomores
Hanna Roach and
Delaney Bolbach shared MBU's team lead with seven kills. Classmate
Emily Penny chipped in 26 assists and eight digs while Sol Rios-Rolon had 12 digs and eight assists.
The Gators were led by Miasia Ferrer with 12 kills and Gabby Taganas with 11 kills, a .316 hitting percentage and a team-leading three block assists.
MBU returns to their home court in the PAC on Saturday, hosting a USA South Conference tri-match against Brevard (noon) and Methodist (4 p.m.). Â
