Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Mary Baldwin Volleyball Suffers 3-0 Loss at Pfeiffer Saturday

Senior middle blocker Megan Andrews led the attack while freshman setter Josie Sheets had a strong all-around game in her first match back from an injury for Mary Baldwin in Saturday's 3-0 USA South Conference setback at Pfeiffer.

The Falcons defended home court with set scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-22 to improve to 8-13 overall, 3-11 USA South.  The Fighting Squrrels fell to 2-21, 0-13 USA South.

Andrews led a balanced group with five kills and a .308 hitting percentage.  Freshman Sabrina Birts was close behind with four kills while classmate Brooklyn Prince and sophomore Hanna Roach each had three.

Sheets, who missed several matches, posted team highs of 12 assists, eight digs and two of the team's four block assists.  Prince, senior Savannah Figueroa and junior Sol Rios-Rolon all added six digs to the defensive effort.

The Fighting Squirrels have six matches remaining over the final two weeks of the season, starting with a Friday (10/27) night clash at MBU's PAC against N.C. Wesleyan (6 p.m.).  Friday's match vs. the Battling Bishops will be part of the team's annual Senior Night festivities.

The team will then travel to Raleigh, N.C., Saturday (10/28) for a conference tri-match against Greensboro (2 p.m.) and host William Peace (4 p.m.).
