Mary Baldwin sophomore Hanna Roach pounded a team-best 11 kills with a .292 hitting percentage while classmate Emily Penny dished out 25 assists, but the Fighting Squirrels dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Salem Saturday in USA South volleyball action during Family Weekend festivities at the PAC.

The Spirits won in straight sets, 25-16, 25-14 and 25-22 as Anna Rymer had seven kills, 11 assists, four service aces, three solo blocks and three digs for the winners.

Mary Baldwin, which went on a 7-0 run on Jaisley Tibayan serves late in the third set to try to extend the match before falling by three points, fell to 2-16, 0-9 in conference play.

The Fighting Squirrels return to action Thursday with a non-conference clash in Baltimore against the College of Notre Dame (Md.), followed by a USA South tri-match at the MBU PAC Saturday against Brevard (noon) and Methodist (4 p.m.).
