Mary Baldwin erased a 10-point halftime deficit in the third quarter and forced overtime at Greensboro Saturday, but hit just 2-of-14 shots in the extra five minutes while the hosts went on an 11-4 run to pull out a 64-57 USA South women's basketball victory over the Fighting Squirrels.
Freshman guard Ayrauna Brent led MBU with 16 points while senior center
Codie Heilig added 15 scores to lead the Fighting Squirrels. Brent and Heilig also combined to hit 5-of-9 attempts from three-point range, 12 rebounds, six assists and four steals for the visitors.

Gianna Gilmore each added 10 points for MBU. Gilmore just missed a double-double with a team-best nine rebounds.
Greensboro led throughout most of the first half, although MBU cut the lead to 23-22 before the half ended with the Pride holding a 34-24 advantage. MBU outscored the hosts 17-6 in the third quarter as Brent and Farrait each hit a pair of long-range shots during the frame. The teams battled back and forth in the fourth quarter before Kenzie Harris scored on a layup with 1:18 left to force overtime.
The Fighting Squirrels are now 2-6 overall, 1-3 in USA South heading into Thursday's non-conference clash at St. Mary's (Md.) on Thursday (5 p.m.). MBU's second game this week is Saturday at the PAC against Wilson, starting at 2 p.m.
