Aubrey Durgin Named MBU Interim Head Coach For Men's & Women's Cross Country

Aubrey Wingaert Durgin, who served as a graduate assistant distance coach at Mary Baldwin in 2022-23, has been promoted to Interim Head Coach of the Fighting Squirrels Men's & Women's Cross Country teams for the 2023-24 season.  She will also continue to serve as an assistant coach for the indoor and outdoor track & field teams.

Durgin is a 2022 graduate of Waynesburg (Pa.) University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology.   She was a distance runner for the Yellow Jackets and holds the school records in the mile, 3,000 and indoor 5,000-meter runs.

She also finished among the top three in the Presidents Athletic Conference cross country championships in each of her four seasons at Waynesburg, including capturing the gold medal in 2019 and a silver in 2021.  The Yellow Jackets won the team title in each of her four seasons on the team.

She was also named an All-Region athlete in the 10K and was a two-time national qualifier in cross country.  She has also competed in marathons and long-distance road races during her racing career.

"The student-athletes really like Aubrey, and her experience will be invaluable as we build a quality distance running program," said Tom Byrnes, MBU Director of Athletics.
