MBU Men's Basketball Team Stays Hot with 79-60 Triumph Over William Peace

The Mary Baldwin Men's Basketball team extends their winning streak to five games as they defeat the William Peace University Pacers 79-60. Scoring an identical 30 points in each half, the Pacers were not able to keep up with the Fighting Squirrels' almost identical 39 and 40 split between the first and second half.

Starting the game off with a neck and neck pace, the Fighting Squirrels found their stride during the middle of the first half and started to pull away and finished scoring 39 points in their first half to counter the Pacers' 30 points. Keeping their momentum from the first half, MBU's team managed to lead by 28 points at the height of their lead and managed to finish with a 79-60 victory. 

Leading the charge for the Squirrels tonight was #5, Quentin Hart, who scored a season high for the team of 28 point through the contest. Not only was he perfect in his free throw shots by going six for six in shots, Hart managed to shoot 3 three-pointers in the match-up. #2, Luke Ogle also bolstered the team's efforts by posting 15 points and snagging 9 rebounds through the contest. Other notable players for MBU were #22, Mekhi Reid who scored 11 points and #1, Brett Asbury who grabbed 9 rebounds.

The Pacers' effort today was led in points by #22, Timothy Pettiford, who put up 18 points through the game. #35, Tomlin Rashaun put up 11 points and #2, Shawn Jones assisted his teammates with 10 rebounds through the contest as well.

The Mary Baldwin Men's Basketball team aims to square up next week against Southern Virginia University on Wednesday (1/17) at 7:30 and then travels to N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday (1/20) at 4:00 PM.
