Freshman guard
Aryauna Brent reached the 20-point plateau for the second time in the last four games, but Mary Baldwin suffered an 88-36 women's basketball setback at North Carolina Wesleyan Saturday.
Brent's 20 points, her second-highest total of the season behind only a 27-point performance vs. Pfeiffer on January 12, led both teams. She also contributed four rebounds, an assist, blocked shot and a steal for MBU. Senior
Codie Heilig also chipped in eight points and a team-best eight rebounds for the Fighting Squirrels.
Areina Harris led the hosts with 16 points while Nadia Simmons had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. NCW, second place in the USA South, outscored the visitors 22-10 in the first quarter and never looked back on the way to improving to 8-8 for the season.
MBU's next outing is Tuesday (1/23) at Southern Virginia, beginning at 6 p.m.
