Aryauna Brent poured in a game-high 19 points and senior forward
A'Cetta Farrait added 18 scores, but the Fighting Squirrels suffered an 82-53 setback at USA South rival Brevard Wednesday.
In addition to providing 37 of the team's 53 points, the duo of Brent and Farrait also combined for eight of MBU's 11 steals, 12 of 39 rebounds and combined to shoot 13-for-31 from the field (41.9%), 9-for-10 from the free throw line (90%) and hit two of the Fighting Squirrels three long-range shots.
Brevard, led by Jody Hester's 15 scores, put four players in double digits in the game and outscored the visitors in each frame. The Tornados led 24-15 after the first quarter and gradually pulled away, leading by 49-26 at halftime and 65-37 heading into the fourth quarter.
MBU (2-10, 1-4 USA South) returns to action Saturday afternoon (2 p.m.) with a conference showdown at William Peace (3-8, 1-4 USA South).
