Southern Virginia University pulled out ahead to score 30 in the first quarter to keep the lead for the game as they won against Mary Baldwin University 90-53.
The game started with the Knights scoring 30 points in the first quarter to match the Fighting Squirrels 15 points. Things settled down in the second and third periods with a SVU scoring 32 and MBU scoring 25, but SVU pulled away and solidified their victory by scoring 28 points in the final quarter to beat MBU's 13.

Codie Heilig led the match-up in scoring by tallying 14 in her 26 minutes of play during the game. Heilig assisted her teams as well with 2 assists and snatching 5 rebounds. Other major players for the Fighting Squirrels were
Angel Crowder putting up 13 points including 2 three-pointers,
Aryauna Brent scoring 11 with her 2 assists, and
A'Cetta Farrait as she put up 10 points.
Southern Virginia's Ruth Kempler and Anna Claytor led their team to victory by each tallying 12 points each. Kempler also served her purpose as Center as she had 9 rebounds. Maria Savvun and Camilla Norton also contributed to their team's victory by combining for 5 three-pointers.
The Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels Women's Basketball team continue their semester as they are scheduled for two home games later this week when they host Pfeiffer on Friday at 5:00 PM (1/12) and Brevard on Saturday at 2:00 PM (1/13).
