Freshman Alexa Ammerman was strong defensively with 16 of Mary Baldwin's 41 digs and added two assists and one of the team's two service aces in Tuesday's 3-0 USA South Volleyball loss at Meredith.

The host Avenging Angels (8-5, 3-2 USA South) topped the Fighting Squirrels (2-10, 0-5 USA South) by scores of 25-17, 25-11 and 25-18.

Senior Sol Rios-Rolon dished out six assists and had six digs while junior Emily Penny contributed a team-high seven assists, the other service ace and three digs.

Sophomores Sabrina Birts and Brooklyn Prince shared team-high honors with three kills each while four other players each added two.

The Fighting Squirrels return to North Carolina Saturday for a USA South Conference tri-match at Brevard College against the host Tornados (noon) and Methodist (2 p.m.).
