Noracelina Ramirez put Mary Baldwin on the scoreboard late in the second half of Sunday's 3-1 USA South women's soccer loss vs. Brevard at SMA Worth Field. Prior to the game, MBU celebrated the members of its senior class, including
Maddy Vinson,
Abigail Coscia,
Sara Gruntowicz,
Kaitlin Bower and
Brenna Kehoe.
Brevard scored twice in the first half and added an insurance tally midway though the second half. Ramirez netted her first goal of the season, off an assist by sophomore
Eve Diep, in the 85th minute to break the shutout.
The undefeated and second-place Tornados (8-0-2, 3-0-1 USA South) held a 21-5 shooting advantage in the match (8-4 shots on goal). Vinson was credited with five saves in goal for MBU.
The seventh-place Fighting Squirrels (2-7-2, 2-4 USA South) have the week off to prepare for their next USA battle at Methodist on Saturday (10/19) at 1 p.m.
