Senior captain
Sara Gruntowicz scored her second goal of the season midway through the first half, but Greensboro bounced back with three goals inside of a 15-minute playing span to hand Mary Baldwin a 3-1 USA South women's soccer setback vs. the Pride (5-8-1, 2-2 USA South).
Gruntowicz cut through the middle of the defense off a short pass from
Kendall Carr to give MBU the lead in the 36th minute. The Pride evened the match just before halftime on the first of two goals by Shea Brennan. The visitors then scored twice in the first 11 minutes of the second half to pull away for the win.
Greensboro outshot the hosts 23-5 (11-4 shots on goal). MBU keeper
Maddy Vinson was credited with eight saves in the match.
The Fighting Squirrels (2-6-2, 2-3 USA South), now seventh in the USA South, play another home conference match Sunday (1 p.m.) against Brevard.
