Quentin Hart and junior
Zach Sloan were named to the All-Tournament team following Mary Baldwin's 72-69 loss vs. Maine Maritime in the championship game of the 2024 Spring Hill Suites Men's Basketball Tournament at Messiah College Saturday.
Hart led the Fighting Squirrels with 19 points while Sloan added 17 and
Raymond Benton chipped in 10 scores. Hart also contributed three rebounds, three steals and two assists while Sloan finished with three assists, a rebound, blocked shot and steal.
MBU's shooting struggled most of the game, finishing with a 35.8% from the field (24-for-67) and 28.6% from three-point range (8-for-28). The Fighting Squirrels were also out-rebounded 46-to-29 and had more fouls (26) than Maine Maritime (14). For the second-straight game, MBU was outscored at the free throw line (21-13).
Maine Maritime drained 41.8% from the field (23-for-55) to secure the margin of victory. Curt Heinz was named Tournament MVP after posting 23 points and grabbing 20 rebounds, both game highs, along with five assists, two blocked shots and a steal.
The Fighting Squirrels return to action this week with back-to-back road games, starting with an exhibition contest Tuesday (11/12) at NCAA Division I James Madison (7 p.m.). Wednesday (11/13), MBU heads the other direction on I-81 for a non-conference battle at Washington & Lee (7 p.m.).
