A'Cetta Farrait tallied nearly half of her team's points and missing a double-double by one rebounds in Mary Baldwin's 56-42 USA South Conference women's basketball loss at Meredith Saturday.
Farrait poured in a game-high 20 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the field, including half of MBU's four long-range goals, and added nine rebounds, an assist, a block and two steals for a strong all-around performance. Classmate
Codie Heilig added 11 markers for the Fighting Squirrels (2-21, 1-15 USA South).
Meredith, led by Emma Lodge (12 pts.), Piper Carriere (11 pts.) and Paris Bethea (10 pts.) led the Avenging Angels (8-16, 6-11 USA South), who led 14-6 at the end of the first quarter and 37-15 at the break. MBU outscored the hosts 27-19 in the second half but never cut the deficit to less than 10 points.
MBUÂ closes out the 2023-24 season with a pair of home games this week as Salem visits the PAC Wednesday (2/14, 5 p.m.) on Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night and North Carolina Wesleyan is the opponent Saturday (2/14, 2 p.m.) on Senior Day.
