A'Cetta Farrait reached the 20-point plateau for the fifth time this season and the third time in the last five games to lead the Mary Baldwin women's basketball team to an inspired 60-55 USA South Athletic Conference victory over Salem College on Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night at the PAC.
The win snapped a 16-game slide for the Fighting Squirrels (3-21, 2-15 USA South) and gave the team its highest win total since 2022.
Farrait also contributed all four of MBU's three-point goals (on six tries) and added nine rebounds and two assists.
MBU had strong performances throughout the lineup as senor
Codie Heilig tallied 13 points and seven rebounds,
Angel Crowder collected 11 points, four rebounds and a team-high three steals. Juniors
Imari Knight, in her first game back from an injury, chipped in eight scored and seven boards off the bench while
Gianna Gilmore was dominant on the boards again, collecting-high 16 missed shots.
The hosts struggled out of the gate, falling behind 15-9 in the first quarter before outscoring the visiting Spirits in each of the last three quarters to gain the five-point victory.
The Fighting Squirrels close out their 2023-24 campaign Saturday (2/17) at the PAC against North Carolina Wesleyan (2 p.m.). Pre-game ceremonies will honor the members of the 2024 senior class.
