Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Fraley, Ogle Strong As Men's Basketball Outlasts Southern Virginia In Overtime, 91-88

Post players Vernon Fraley and Luke Ogle led all five Mary Baldwin starters into double figures in the scoring column and collected 16 of the team's 22 rebounds as the first place Fighting Squirrels outlasted host Southern Virginia, 91-88, in overtime Tuesday.

Fraley reached 20 points for the fifth time this season, finishing with 22 points, including 8-for-8 from the free throw line, to lead the visitors while Ogle posted his second double-double of the season with 16 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.  Fraley added six board and three steals while Ogle was 4-for-5 from three-point range, four blocked shots and two steals.

Junior guard Jaden Ignacio matched Ogle's 16 points and dished out eight of MBU's 14 assists.  Guards Quentin Hart and Zach Sloan rounded out the starting lineup in double figures with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

In both halves, the Fighting Squirrels built a double-digit lead, only to see the Knights battle back to take the lead.  In the first 20 minutes, MBU led 29-18 midway through the period before finishing the half trailing 46-44.  SVU's Koa Baker, who led all scorers with 31 points, dropped in a layup in the final seconds of the first half for the lead at the break.

In the second half, MBU's lead was 14 points twice before SVU battled back.  DJ Green's two free throws with 14 seconds left evened the score at 84, and the teams went to the extra five minutes.  In OT, the teams traded buckets twice before a Fraley layup with 2:15 left gave the visitors the lead they never surrendered.  Both teams played tough defense down the stretch, and a free throw by Hart in the final seconds finished the scoring.

MBU will put first place on the line with the final two conference road games of the season at William Peace Friday (7 p.m.) and Pfeiffer Saturday (4 p.m.).
