Pfeiffer broke open a tie game with seven runs in the top of the ninth inning to gain a 13-6 USA South Baseball victory Saturday over Mary Baldwin at Shifflett Field in Grottoes, VA.

MBU (5-21, 2-11 USA South) erased an early 1-0 deficit with four runs in the fourth and two in the fifth for a 6-1 lead.  Grayson Moore contributed a two-run single to highlight the fourth-inning charge, and J.T. Stevenson had an RBI base hit in each of the two innings.

Pfeiffer (13-14, 5-8 USA South) bounced back to even the score with four runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh, setting up the Falcons' game-winning outburst in the ninth inning, which included an error, a sacrifice bunt, a wild pitch, a sacrifice fly and eight hits.

Moore finished with three hits and three RBI while Stevenson had two hits, knocked in two runs and scored one.  Tyler Smith also had two hits, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored.

The Falcons and Fighting Squirrels square off again twice Sunday at Shifflett Field in Grottoes, Va., starting at noon.
