A steady wind toward right field helped six well-hit fly balls, five off the bats of Pfeiffer players, leading the visiting Falcons to a doubleheader sweep vs. Mary Baldwin Sunday at Shifflett Field in Grottoes, Va. Pfeiffer won the first game 20-4 and followed with an 18-2 victory in the nightcap.
MBU surrendered 29 hits (five home runs), 15 walks, six hit batsmen and five errors in the doubleheader, leading to 30 earned runs. The Falcons scored in 11 of the 14 innings in the two games.
The Fighting Squirrels managed just nine hits in the two games, including a two-run roundtripper by
Tyler Smith in the fifth inning of the second game.

Kelly Hackley each had two hits for the hosts.
MBU has the week off for final exams before returning to its USA South schedule with a three-game series next weekend at conference leader North Carolina Wesleyan. The teams begin the series with a single game Saturday (4/20) at 3 p.m., followed by a noon DH Sunday (4/21).
