Big statistics for players throughout the lineup were featured in Wednesday's 3-0 Mary Baldwin volleyball victory over visiting Trinity (D.C.) University Wednesday at the PAC. The Fighting Squirrels, who won by scores of 25-7, 25-7 and 25-8, improve to 2-5 overall while the Tigers fell to 1-4.
Sophomore Brooklyn Prince was dominant on the attack, pounding 10 kills on 15 tries for a .533 hitting percentage. Junior
Emily Penny (13) and senior Sol Rios-Rolon (8) combined to lead the MBU assist department. Freshman
Alexa Ammerman had 10 service aces, most in the first set when she served for 12-straight MBU points. Sophomore
Sabrina Birts had five aces and Rios-Rolon had four as the team compiled a total of 25 in the match.
On the back end, Ammerman had six digs and Birts had five for the Fighting Squirrels.
The Fighting Squirrels head to Greensboro Saturday on a winning note to open their 2024 USA South Conference schedule against the Pride (2 p.m.) and William Peace (4 p.m.).
