Sophomore Brooklyn Prince led Mary Baldwin with 12 kills in two matches Saturday at Greensboro on the first day of USA South Conference volleyball action. The Fighting Squirrels (2-7, 0-2 USA South) lost by 3-0 margins against William Peace (25-9, 25-17, 25-6) and the host Pride (25-13, 25-23, 25-16).
Against WPU, Prince shared team-high honors with senior
Alexis Edmonds, each with four of MBU's 14 kills. Other leaders for MBU included freshman
Alexa Ammerman with 10 digs and senior Sol Rios-Rolon with seven assists.
Against Greensboro, Prince again shared team-high honors, this time with freshman
Kennedy Mills, each with eight of MBU's 24 kills. Mills also topped the Fighting Squirrels with 10 digs while Rios-Rolon had eight digs. Rios-Rolon again led the team with 10 assists while junior
Emily Penny had nine assists after dishing out seven helpers in the WPU match. Sophomore
Sabrina Birts recorded two of MBU's three solo blocks.
MBU hosts a pair of USA South rivals this week, starting with Southern Virginia Tuesday (9/24) at 6 p.m., followed by Salem Saturday (9/28) at 2 p.m.
