Fighting Squirrels Drop Conference Home Opener to Southern Virginia

The Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels battled hard in their conference home opener but fell 3–0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-11) to Southern Virginia on Wednesday evening.

Sophomore libero Alexa Ammerman anchored the defense with 12 digs, but the Knights' attack proved too strong as they finished with 31 kills compared to Mary Baldwin's 13.

The Fighting Squirrels return to action Saturday, October 4, hosting their first home conference tri-match of the season. MBU will face the Methodist Angels at noon before squaring off with the Salem Spirits at 4:00 p.m.
