Mary Baldwin put together a determined effort on the road Wednesday night, showing grit in a 3–0 loss to Southern Virginia (25–7, 25–13, 25–18).
The Fighting Squirrels found their rhythm late, highlighted by sophomore
Kennedy Mills and junior
Brooklynn Prince, who combined for nine kills. Freshman setter
Kathryn Nguyen guided the offense with 15 assists and added an ace, while junior
Sabrina Birts chipped in four kills.
After a slow start, Mary Baldwin regrouped to challenge the Knights in the third set, trading points behind their serving and defensive energy.
The Fighting Squirrels are back on the road Thursday, as they look to complete the season sweep of Sweet Briar College, starting at 5:30 p.m.
