The Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels fell short in their first home USA South tri-match on Saturday, dropping both contests despite strong effort and energy from the home crowd.
In the afternoon matchup, MBU faced the Meredith Angels, falling in straight sets (25-17, 25-18, 25-17).

The Fighting Squirrels showed grit in the second set, rallying for six straight points to narrow the gap and ignite the fans in the PAC. Sophomore libero Alexa Ammeran anchored the defense, leading the team with 17 digs and covering the court with relentless hustle.

In the last game, Mary Baldwin took on the Salem Spirits, who came away with a 3-0 victory (25-6, 25-5, 25-14).

Mary Baldwin will continue its home stand on Thursday, Oct. 10, when they host Pfeiffer University at 6:00 p.m.
