The Mary Baldwin women's basketball team dropped a 90–57 decision to N.C. Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon at home.
The Fighting Squirrels got an early boost from freshman
Lanie Bethel, who connected on a three-pointer in the opening minutes to give Mary Baldwin an early lead. The Battling Bishops responded with a strong inside presence and second-chance points, building an 18–10 advantage after the first quarter and extending the lead to 46–22 at halftime.
Mary Baldwin continued to battle throughout the game, creating turnovers and pushing the pace when possible. Bethel led the Fighting Squirrels with 21 points, including four three-pointers, and added six steals on the defensive end. Junior

DaVyne Johnson contributed nine points.
The Fighting Squirrels closed the game with their strongest stretch, outscoring N.C. Wesleyan 23–16 in the fourth quarter. The late surge highlighted Mary Baldwin's effort and energy, even as the Battling Bishops maintained control of the contest.
