Mary Baldwin's baseball team earned a 5-4 lead in the sixth inning, but was unable to hold it as Washington & Lee rebounded with 11 runs over the next three innings to secure a 15-6 non-conference victory Thursday in Lexington.
Freshman catcher
Camden Bauswell was 2-for-3 with three RBI while
Tyler Smith added a pair of hits, a run and two RBI as the teams traded leads through the first five innings. Connor Michael eventually plated the lead run in the top of the sixth on an infield error by W&L, but the host Generals bounced back with four in the sixth, three in the seventh and four in the eighth inning to pull away for the win.
Isiah Brooks and
Tyler Smith also each chipped two of MBU's eight hits. Â
The Fighting Squirrels are back in action this weekend at Grottoes, Va., against USA South rival William Peace. MBU and the Pacers square off Saturday for a single game starting at 3 p.m., followed Sunday with a twinbill that starts at noon.
