The Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels Baseball team hosted the Hood College Blazers for a doubleheader. After jumping out to an early lead, Hood College's pitching held strong as they allowed on 3 hits for Mary Baldwin resulting in the first game going to the Blazers in a 9-1 loss for the Fighting Squirrels. The heart of the Mary Baldwin batting lineup led the offensive charge in the second game giving the Fighting Squirrels their first win of the season with a 10-5 victory.

In the second game of today's contests, it was Mary Baldwin who struck first in the bottom of the 1st inning thanks to a ball in play by sophomore #8
Carter Attard. Going back in forth for a couple of innings, Hood fought back with a four run inning in the 4th putting them up 5-2. Mary Baldwin didn't stay quiet and the offensive exploded with a seven run inning in the bottom of the 5th inning thanks to some timely Fighting Squirrels offense. Noah Kessler who went 3 for 4 today in the second game with three hits, a double, and one run scored. #23

Carter Attard also was key in today's contest as his efforts accounted for 3 RBIs, a hit and a run scored. With the seven run inning in the 5th, MBU's offense carried it to its first win of the season with a 10-5 victory over the Hood College Blazers.
Coming up on the Fighting Squirrels Baseball Schedule: they host Ferrum College the Ferrum College Panthers for a single game on Wednesday, 3/12 @4:00 pm and are quickly followed with another home game against the Washington and Lee Generals on Thursday, 3/13 @4:00 pm. They then travel to Greensboro College for their first in conference match-up next weekend for a three-game series.
