Eastern Mennonite broke loose from a 5-3 lead to score eight unanswered runs in the last two innings on two hits, nine walks and one hit batsman to complete a 13-3 non-conference baseball win over visiting Mary Baldwin Thursday.
Trailing 5-0,
Tyler Morley led the MBU attack that closed the deficit in the top of the sixth with a two-out, two-run double down the left field line, then scored on an infield error, cutting EMU's lead to 5-3. EMU then pulled away in the seventh, scoring four runs on four consecutive bases-loaded walks. In the eighth, the Royals sealed the win with four runs on two RBI hits and a sacrifice fly.
Morley finished the day with two of MBU's five hits while
Jacob Barber reached safely twice on a hit and a walk.
The Fighting Squirrels (6-31) close out the regular season this weekend with a three-game USA South series at Brevard College, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday (4/26).
