Mary Baldwin volleyball picked up its first win of the season Saturday by defeating Penn State Dubois, 3-0, in the Fighting Squirrels last match at the 2025 North Carolina Wesleyan Tournament. Earlier in the day, MBU dropped a 3-1 decision to Regent University to finish 1-2 in the tournament.
Against Regent, MBU lost by scores of 18-25, 15-25, 25-10, 19-25. Payton Hall led the way with five kills while
Christal Newman had four kills and three service aces.
Alexa Ammerman contributed 22 digs for the Fighting Squirrels.
In the win over Penn State Dubois, MBU posted scores of 25-11, 25-5 and 25-8 on the strength of a team-high 10 kills by
Kennedy Mills.
Sabrina Birts provided support with five kills, six service aces and one block. Kathryn Nguyen also had six service aces, a team-leading 17 assists and six digs.
The Fighting Squirrels return to action Wednesday (9/3) with a non-conference match at Hollins University (6 p.m.).
