Freshman forward
Molly Ludwig knocked in the only goal of the match in the 14th minute to lift Mary Baldwin's women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Randolph College Monday. It was MBU's first ever win over the WildCats in 11 tries, dating back to 2004 (0-9-1 previously).
Ludwig's goal, assisted by sophomore midfielder
Kendall Carr, gave the hosts their first lead of the season. It was Carr's first career assist on the play.
The MBU defense held off challenge after challenge by Randolph, which outshot the Fighting Squirrels by a 10-4 margin (6-2 shots on goal). Sophomore
Amelia Cross was credited with six saves for her first career complete-game shutout and victory.
MBU returns to action Saturday (9/6) with a 1 p.m. non-conference match at home against Regent in the first game of a doubleheader at SMA Worth Field. The nightcap will be a 3:30 p.m. men's soccer showdown featuring MBU against Notre Dame University of Maryland.
